My Log Cabin Project
My Log Cabin Project
Here is my home in 1998. My house was built in the 1920's but then torn down and rebuilt in 1950 keeping 3 of the original log cabin walls. The house was built as a 3 season summer home and re-done in that tacky 50's style.
I restored this home to it's 1920's charm as well as it is now a Full Time home, 4 Seasons
Lake Mohawk Reservation became a Summer Lake Community around 1926-1927 when the Arthur D. Crane Company, began construction on what would end up being the largest private artificial lake in New Jersey. The reservation consists of 3 lakes:
Lake Mohawk
Upper Lake
Alpine Pond
There are 11 beaches and 1 Marina on Lake Mohawk proper, the lake, which is approximately 3 miles long.
Here is a picture of the lake my home is at. This picture was taken by my Realtor and friend, Don Gerberg, who is also a professional photographer. Don lives in the lake community as well. You may visit his website at:

Restoration Recommendations
If you would like to hire me for your Log Home Restoration Project please e-mail me below. I would be happy to direct, assist or do the full restoration of homes in the NJ, Upstate NY and PA area.
If you plan on doing the restoration project yourself and would like advise feel free to contact me as well. Here are some companies and products I have used and gladly recommend:
The best chinking and sealer products for Log Home Constructions!
Custom Millwork shop. I have used them for custom woodwork and lumber cutting used within the interior of my home. Located in PA. Very professional and run like a "mom and pop" shop with very personal detailed service though they are a rather large operation!
R.W. Siegel Construction, Inc of Green Township, NJ 973-383-9640
General Contractor who works on Referral Only. Please e-mail me if you'd like a referral of your project.
Mr. Siegle and his son Mike do all levels of construction as well as custom Black Smithing! in the Northern NJ area. I cannot say enough about the professionalism and personal attention R.W. Siegal gives to all his projects. There are no crews, all work is performed by Rich and Mike. The best part of using such a small company is that they allow the homeowner to assist on any project, shortening the finishing time as well as saving the owner money. In the near future I hope to add a page to this site displaying some of their custom work. I used R.W. Seigle for assistance with the siding and soffit work you see on my home as well as the re-design of the window framing and installation of all the custom sized windows on the home.
I cannot say enough about John and the Staff at Bathroom Machineries! They are #1 in my book with Antique bathroom parts as well as RESTORATION and REPLICATION of antique bathroom fixtures.
If you are looking for that unique bathroom project be sure to follow the link to their site by clicking on their banner above. If you click on the interior picture above you will be sent to the interior projects page of my site. The Second Bath has been one of the biggest projects to date and I used Bathroom Machineries for the Sink, Exposed Shower, and Toilet fixtures. The toilet is an actual 1901 restoration with a replication base that only uses 1.6/gal per flush. Not only is it historic, eclectic but it is also functional and meets or exceeds todays building code! The Exposed shower is a replication and meets code by having an adjustable temperature setting so you may never burn yourself on hot water again. (those with old homes will understand this). Please if you have a bathroom project do visit their site!
